Neet 2024 :Supreme court denies re neet

A Brief Introduction of NEET 2024

One of the most high-stakes exams in India for prospective doctors is NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). This particular test is held every year, and it is the only entrance examination for undergraduate medical programs or MBBS offered by all medical colleges in the country. In order to be admitted to study medicine – a career that many students dream about – one must perform excellently in this tough multiple-choice exam. The competition in NEET exams is 25+ with a mere 1 lack seats for MBBS in our country. These makes the competition extremely cut throat for those seats in our country.

Supreme Court verdict

Supreme Court, the apex judicial body of India delivered its verdict on NEET 2024 paper leak plea on 23rd July 2024.

The bench comprising Justices J B Pardiwala, Manoj Misra and respected CJI D.Y. Chandrachud said that the city-wise and centre-wise data for the examination, and a comparison with previous years’ data, was “not indicative of a systemic leak of the question paper, which would indicate a disruption of the sanctity of the examination”.

Pronouncing the verdict, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said, “At the present stage, there is an absence of materials on record to show results of the exam were vitiated or there was a systemic breach in the conduct of the exam.”

CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING NEET 2024:

The controversy surrounding the NEET 2024 exam :

Question paper leak: There has been speculations of Question paper leak. On May 5th 2024,the Neet exam day question paper was released on Instagram in certain which sparked the rumours of Neet paper leak. There was a FIR on alleged paper leak in Patna and the extreme rank-marks allegations further seems to put some light on the paper leak allegations.

Giving of Grace Marks: Some students who lost time during the examination were awarded grace marks by NTA. There were doubts, however, regarding whether this method was fair or not, with some arguing that it led to “inflated marks” for a select few hence creating an inequality among test takers.

Consequently, Public Outrage: Students, parents and political parties rallied against alleged malpractice

Accusations against NTA: The National Testing Agency received condemnation and its Director General was sacked

Supreme Court Intervention
: Legal suits were lodged in relation to awarding of grace marks and the conduct of exams by Supreme Court of Law, the verdict of which is declared on 23rd July 2024 which denies the cancellation of NEET 2024 exam and no Re-NEET conduction due absence of enough evidence that proves the alleged malpractise.

Delayed Counselling:
Medical seat allotment counselling to start on 24th July 2024 after the verdict given by the apex judicial court, which will cause a subsequent delay in the beginning of academic session for year 2024-25.

Why Supreme Court Denies for Re-NEET ?

As per the big breaking news on 23rd July 2024. The apex judicial body has demolished the idea of the re-test of  exam conducted by national testing agency (NTA) .As per the apex judicial body 155 students shouldn't impact other 24 lakhs student career and their is no such evidence found valid and there are no such records available which can conclude for the re test. The judiciary also claims that the exam has been under the strict supervision and in a fair manner the results are conducted. So the judicial body has ordered to not cancel NEET UG 2024.

As per the IIT Delhi confirmation the option 4 of the physics section is actually the correct answer

Even for the all atoms are stable question ,the correct answer is " Statement 1 is correct and 2 is incorrect"( so only if a candidate attends this option, then only you get a +4, else its a -1 in case any other option is chosen or 0 if not attended.  Meaning that a revised answer key and revised merit list will be provided soon

What students can expect

As there is no Re-NEET for this year, so students can expect their counseling dates, as the results are claimed valid, candidate who scored well as per the cutoffs they can apply for counseling. Through that the colleges will get alloted to them. It's quite tough to claim about AIIMS institute cutoff at the current time, but before the final cutoff ranks announcement, answers for the NEET UG will be retallied and verified.

Counselling updates

As per the sources the NEET UG 2024 counseling will begin from tomorrow and will continued till the month of November tentatively. It will consist of 6 rounds. The registration will begin from tomorrow (24 July 2024) and all the updates will be provided by Medical counseling committee.  The official webportal of mcc is Medical Council Webportal

Impact on students

The NEET UG incident has do impacted a lot of students, like from getting a reputed government MBBS college for a specific rank till 2023 but for 2024 students cant expect a govern medical college. So cut-off has a lot of modifications. The period of waiting for the judgement was very troubling because students wouldn't be having any ideas what the next decision would be .Some students might sense relief as counseling procedure may start soon but on the other side students would also be feeling very demotivated and shattered, because after the results students usually prepare for counseling or take a drop year to prepare for better, but after the cutoff and these delays it's might not possible for every student to restart the preparation again.
