CAT exam also known as Common Admission Test is a national level exam Conducted by IIMs for admission into post graduate programs like PGP, PhD, fpm but specifically it is for MBA program, candidates often prepare for CAT to get into the top B schools of India ,even working professionals also prepare for CAT exam to pursue MBA executive. The eligibility criteria for this exam is that the candidate must have a bachelor's degree with 45 to 50% of marks depending upon the category of the candidate. Third year bachelor’s degree students are eligible to sit for the exam ,it is a computer based exam , mostly the questions are MCQ based and it is divided into 3 section first section is of (VARC) , second section is of (DILR) and the last section consists of Quants or (QA ).The duration of exam is 2 hours, 40 minutes is allotted to each section.

Talking about CAT’24 paper setters IIM Calcutta, which is one of the best IIMs of India ,also the first IIM of India, placed at number 4 as per NIRF ranking is going to conduct CAT exam this year , the cut-off of IIMs ranges between 98 to 99 percentile.

REQUIREMENTS OF CAT EXAM : EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION 

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. For SC, ST, and PWD candidates, the requirement is 45%.Certain points to remember about eligibility.

1.Final year students of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification can also apply. If selected, they must provide a certificate from the Principal/Registrar stating they have completed all degree requirements on the date of issue.

2.Age Limit - There is no age limit for the CAT exam.

RESERVATION -

1.OBC (Other Backward Classes): 27% of the seats are reserved for OBC candidates.

2.SC (Scheduled Caste): 15% of the seats are reserved for SC candidates.

3.ST (Scheduled Tribe): 7.5% of the seats are reserved for ST candidates.

4.EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10% of the seats are reserved for EWS candidates.

5.PWD (Persons with Disability): 5% of the seats are reserved for PwD candidates.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED 

1.Scanned photograph: Recent passport-size colour photograph.

2.Scanned signature: Signature in black or blue ink on white paper.

3.Photo ID: A government-issued ID card like Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, or Passport.

4.Academic documents: Class 10 marksheet, Class 12 marksheet, 

5.Graduation marksheet.

6.Other (if applicable)

7.Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)

 8.PWD certificate (Persons with Disability) and Scribe affidavit (if required).

Any document must be downloaded from the official website, filled, attested, and uploaded as a PDF.

APPLICATION FEES -

  • General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates: Rs 2,400.
  • SC/ST/PWD candidates: Rs 1,200.

I have done my graduation. Do I need to enter the overall percentage of total marks as per my university standards?

For one to be considered for education and job applications after completing their undergraduate studies, it is important that they determine the overall percentage in all subjects as per the university system. It summarise one's entire academic performance during graduation.

Different universities adopt either cumulative or particular formulas to calculate overall percentages. This will help ensure that your percentage is accurate and comparable with those of other students.

Therefore, it’s important that you remember to match the final results on your transcripts with any percentages that you fill in while dealing with application forms or any other vital paperwork. In case CGPA scale is used, use the formula given by a college to convert it into your own result expressed as a percentage.

Can I edit or make changes to CAT 2024 application form, once I have made payment?

If you have already made payment for the CAT 2024 application form and need to make changes to the information you provided, here are some steps you can take: 

1. Contact CAT Helpline: The first thing is to contact the CAT helpline or customer service. One can obtain the contact information on the official CAT website. You should briefly describe your case and ask for help in modifying the application form. 

2.Provide Necessary Details: If you will be asked to provide details, always be ready to give elements like registration number, payment transaction ID and the changes that you want to make in your application form. 

3.Pay Additional Fees: There are some instances whereby any modification made on the application form after making a payment attracts some fees. If there are changes that will attract other charges, ensure that you are willing to meet all the charges as implied by CAT guidelines. 

4.Confirmation of Changes: After the changes have been implemented, confirm from the CAT support team that the changes have been affected as desired. Double check all the inputs that have been written on the altered segments of the application form. 

 Hence, the applicant is encouraged to act fast and adhere to the guidelines given by the CAT support team if one wishes to make alterations to an application form after making the payment. It is recommended to have all the records of the communication and the transactions done during the process in an easy reach to avoid complications.

I am not pursuing a Bachelor's degree or any other professional qualification degree. Am I eligible to appear for CAT 2024?

CAT means Common Aptitude test is an entrance examination for Indian b-schools, IIMs for doing an MBA. This exam has 3 sections.

1. VARC- verbal ability and reading comprehension

2. LRDI - logical reasoning and data interpretation

3. Quants

This is a computer based exam. This exam contains MCQ’s and TITA questions. For every correct answer 3 marks are given and for every wrong answer (-1( negative marks are given. TITA questions don't have any negative marking. Every year this exam is approximately given by 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh students. Students who are in their last year of undergraduate degree are eligible for this exam. Students who have completed their graduation, are doing a job or pursuing any professional course can also give this exam. This exam happens once every year. This exam takes place every year on the last Sunday of November. And anyone from any field and career can give this exam if they wish to do an MBA from a top college or any other Indian b-schools. Most b-schools in our county accept CAT scores. Even if you are not pursuing any course, degree, professional course or are not in any job but yes still you are eligible to give this examination, but your graduation before that should be completed after that if you aren't doing anything you still can give this examination. There is no age limit for this exam. And also there are no limited number of attempts for this exam. The only criteria is that when students start their MBA colleges before that their graduation must be completed. So students from their last year of undergraduate courses are eligible to give this examination.

I am pursuing the final year of graduation. Am I eligible to appear for CAT 2024?

Common Admission Test or CAT is accepted by almost 1200 business schools. The CAT exam is conducted for MBA courses offered by IIM and around 1200 business schools, every institute has their criteria to take students, one common criteria is CAT score, graduation result, 10th and 12th result, gender diversity and student diversity. The eligibility criteria for appearing for CAT is that: 

• The Student must have a graduation degree in any discipline or must be in the final year of graduation. 

• The person appearing for the exam must have at least 50 percent of aggregate in graduation (45% for SC, ST and OBC category). 

• In case the marks of the candidates is in grades the percentage of the candidate will be calculated according to the criteria followed by the university/ institutions. 

The CAT exam 2024 registrations will be conducted in the first week of August and continue till the third week of September.
